Cchampagne manufacturer Billecart-Salmon was established in 1818 in Mareuil-Sur-Ay. His cuvée is the Grande Cuvée.
Billecart-Salmon Champagne is an independent manufacturer.
Nicolas François Billecart marries Elisabeth Salmon. From their union, they decided to create the Maison Billecart-Salmon in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, the cradle of the family. From then on, Nicolas François was joined to Louis Salmon, his wife's brother. He took care of the commercial side of the business, while his brother-in-law, a passionate oenologist, devoted himself to wine making.
A prestigious-pregnant house is Billecart-Salmon champagne. And not only because it has been privately owned since its foundation in 1818. Francois Roland-Billecart, the 7th generation of the family to manage the Billecart-Salmon Champagne House since it was founded, still focuses on the three essential points of the winemaker's philosophy: finesse, balance and elegance. This is exactly how the champagnes are still designed today and they spread a particularly fine pleasure experience!
Billecart-Salmon is repeatedly quoted as being of particularly pronounced high grape quality. The 100 hectares of its own vineyards are cultivated with the utmost care, which is also given to the winegrowers from whom the rest of the required grapes are purchased. Long-term, reliable partnerships are more important to Billecarts than short-term savings from constantly changing suppliers.
The house's champagne is primarily based on the unique know-how of its men, who carefully select a 100-hectare vineyard and obtain their grapes from a total area of 300 hectares in 40 champagne jars.
Most of the grapes used to make the wine come from within a 20 km radius of Epernaywhere the great vintages of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier in the lands of the Montagne de Rheimsthe Côte des Blancs and the Vallée de la Marne stand side by side.
The house has celebrated 200 years of independence and know-how for 7 generations.
The '200' edition, specially compiled for the anniversary, is offered in a limited edition: only 1818 Magnum numbered and available worldwide.
